OUT = to move away from a particular place, especially one that is enclosed or hidden.

Three-quarters of UK children spend less time OUTside than prison inmates. On average they spend 6 and a half hours per day in front of a screen but only 2 and a half hours a week OUTside.

OUTside, children learn about risk, build self-esteem and courage, they feel happier and healthier and they learn about their environment. The moment you remove walls there is a sense of freedom, we are more relaxed and when we are relaxed we are more open to suggestion, to learning and to change.

Now more than ever our children need to be prepared for one thing and one thing only.


How to hear it, how to adapt to it and how to live with it. They need to be resilient in the face of a complex and complicated world that is developing faster than we can sometimes keep up with understanding.

OUTside our environment is continuously changing, every season to every minute and second, the weather, the vegetation, the landscapes. OUTside children are cocooned in changes beyond their control but by experiencing these changes and discovering their ability to adapt to them builds confidence. Careful considered confidence means survival. Ultimately this is about survival, the survival of the human race and the survival of the planet.

If we want half a hope of our planet surviving we need children to be OUT in it.

Feeling it experiencing it, living it and loving it.

OUT is freedom.
